In an exciting discovery during a habitat survey, an Aquarium of the Pacific staff member discovered and helped to identify an endangered white abalone for the first time in five years in the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary.

Learn about how the Aquarium is continuing to actively spawn the endangered marine snail, white abalone. Aquarium staff had a successful spawning event this year.

White Abalone Outplanting Workshop co-hosted by the Aquarium of the Pacific celebrated accomplishments and strategized the conservation efforts for the next five years.

The Aquarium is a founding partner of the White Abalone Recovery Program and has been working with NOAA for the past eleven years on this project.
