Johanna Hultberg

Conservation Manager

Johanna Hultberg is the conservation manager at the Aquarium of the Pacific.

She provides care for a variety of temperate species and leads conservation efforts focused on the recovery of endangered species such as the critically endangered white abalone (Haliotis sorenseni) and the endangered sunflower sea star (Pycnopodia helianthoides). Hultberg’s work includes spawning and rearing efforts, habitat-based restoration strategies, and the development of husbandry protocols to support long-term species survival.

Hultberg holds a bachelor of science in marine biology and is currently completing her master’s degree in environmental studies at California State University, Fullerton, where her research explores larval settlement cues for abalone recovery.
