Emily Yam
Senior Director, Learning and Public Engagement
Emily Yam oversees grant-funded projects, strategic partnerships, and professional development of the Aquarium’s education staff.
Yam is especially interested in community partnerships, climate resilience, and using data visualizations to tell stories about how we know what we know about our planet. Her key areas of expertise include climate resilience, oceanography, marine science, and data-driven interpretation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, a master’s degree in teaching from the University of Virginia, and a master’s degree in marine science from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, where she studied microbial and plankton ecology.
