Dawn Nygren-Burkert
Conservation Volunteer Coordinator
Dawn Nygren-Burkert is the conservation volunteer coordinator at the Aquarium of the Pacific, where she focuses on connecting people with conservation efforts to drive positive environmental change.
With her experience in community science programs such as the Southern California Sea Turtle Monitoring Program and the Aquarium’s Monarch (butterfly) Monitoring Project, Nygren-Burkert has developed expertise in the topics of green sea turtles, local watersheds, and monarch butterflies. Nygren-Burkert holds a bachelor’s degree in cinema and television arts, with a minor in anthropology from California State University, Northridge. She utilizes her background in film and anthropology to communicate complex environmental issues with cultural understanding. Additionally, Nygren-Burkert is a certified Climate Steward through the University of California, which enhances her ability to inspire and engage others in sustainability and climate action.
