Students will delve into abalone conservation or learn about jobs at the Aquarium based on our program offerings for these grades.

Cost Free for Long Beach Unified School District
Capacity 35 students per program max, 2 programs max per visit
Program Location We require an indoor space that allows for some movement and has accessible outlets, tables, and chairs. All programs must be in the same space per visit.

Please note: MOC programs do not include live animals.

6th-8th Grade Program Description

I Love Abalone: A Conservation Story
50 minute program

Join us in learning about the conservation efforts of the white abalone- the first invertebrate to be put on the endangered species list. Students will explore their historical challenges and design an conceptional solution to help abalone populations out in the wild!

Aquarium Career Exploration
50 minute program

The Aquarium of the Pacific has over 12,000 animals. Who are the people who keep it running? What does it take to have those jobs? Explore the different careers that help maintain animal health, exhibits water quality, and educational programs of the Aquarium of the Pacific.
