Tidepool Treasures
50 minute program

Tidepools are a tumultuous place to live! Animals battle heat, predators, a lack of food and water for hours at a time. Learners will use observations of a tidepool model, exploration of animal biofacts, and peer to peer discussions to discover how tidepool animals survive in this unique ocean habitat.

  • Supports Next Generation Science Standards:

    • Performance Expectations
      • 3-LS4-3 Construct an argument with evidence that in a particular habitat some organisms can survive well, some survive less well, and some cannot survive at all.
      • 4-LS1-1. Construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction.

I Love Abalone: A Conservation Story
50 minute program

Join us in learning about the conservation efforts of the white abalone- the first invertebrate to be put on the endangered species list. Students will explore their historical challenges and design a conceptional solution to help abalone populations out in the wild!

  • Supports Next Generation Science Standards:

    • Performance Expectations
      • 3-5- ETS1-2.  Generate and compare multiple solutions to a problem based on how well each is likely to meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
      • Make a claim about the merit of a solution to a problem caused when the environment changes and the types of plants and animals that they live there may change.
