Do you know a child who loves the ocean? Ocean Investigators is a series of programs at the Aquarium for participants 7-12 years old, that encourages exploration of marine life.
Each 2-hour class includes theme related activities, guided gallery tour, interaction with our animal care staff, and a keepsake journal. See below for each program theme, activities, and dates.

Ocean Investigators: Sharks
May 17
Did you know that sharks come in many shapes and sizes? Come explore the variety of sharks found at the Aquarium and learn about their importance in ocean ecosystems. During this 2-hour program your child will:
- Touch tidepool animals in our private classroom touch pool
- Take a guided tour of galleries to see sharks
- Touch sharks in our Shark Lagoon
- Compare and contrast different types of shark teeth
- Explore animal biofacts relating to sharks

Ocean Investigators: Invertebrates
June 14
They may be spineless, but they sure are mighty! Discover the strange survival techniques of these incredible creatures. During this 2-hour program your child will:
- Touch tidepool animals in our private classroom touch pool
- Take a guided tour of the Northern Pacific and Tropical Galleries to see invertebrates
- Learn all about several different groups of invertebrates
- Touch animal biofacts relating to invertebrates
- Record observations of these unique animals

August 8
From the fuzzy fur of sea otters to the filter feeding baleen of whales, discover the amazing adaptations that help marine mammals survive in the ocean! During this 2-hour program your child will:
- Touch tidepool animals in our private classroom touch pool
- Take a guided tour of the North Pacific Gallery
- Review the characteristics of mammals
- Explore marine mammal biofacts
- Record observations of marine mammals

Dive into the watery world of fish as we survey the incredible diversity and amazing adaptations of these scaly friends. During this 2-hour program, your child will:
- Touch tidepool animals in our private classroom touch pool
- Take a guided tour of Tropical Gallery to see a variety of fish
- Learn the key characteristics that make a fish a fish
- Explore biofacts to learn more about fish
- Record observations about fish adaptations and behaviors
