The Aquarium the Pacific is hosting a poetry contest to help celebrate Earth Day.

Poem Guidelines

Poems submitted must follow the theme of ‘celebrating our ocean planet’. Maximum length: 300 words
One entry per person

Entries must be received online by 5:00 p.m. on April 9, 2021. Top 3 entries will be notified by Wednesday, April 14 and will be required to create a video showcasing the reading of their poem to be played during the Virtual Earth Day Celebration. First, second, and third prizes will be announced at our Virtual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 24.


Prizes will be determined based on written poems:

  • First Prize
  • Second Prize
  • Third Prize

Rules and Regulations
This contest ends at 5:00 P.M. Pacific Daylight Savings Time on April 9, 2021. All entries will be judged by a panel of judges determined by the Aquarium. Winners will be announced at the Aquarium’s Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 24, 2021. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO BE CONSIDERED. A PURCHASE DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. All entrants must be at least 10 years of age, and those under 18 must have parental or guardian permission. All entries that exceed the maximum word or line count or are received after the deadline will be disqualified. Employees, volunteers, and board members of the Aquarium of the Pacific and their family/household members are not eligible. Prize is nontransferable and must be accepted as awarded. No cash or other substitution may be made, except by the Aquarium of the Pacific. All entrants give full rights to the Aquarium of the Pacific to promote and publish their name and poem. All entrants release the Aquarium of the Pacific, their affiliates, parents, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees and agents, and all others associated with the development and execution of this contest, from any and all liability from injury, loss or damage of any kind, including death, and property, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, resulting from participation in this promotion or acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize.
