Aquarium, NOAA, California Sea Grant Release Report and Share the Latest About Fish Farming

Members of the media are invited to sample responsibly farmed U.S. seafood, explore U.S. fish farms on an interactive map, and see live animal exhibits about aquaculture.

Members of the media are invited to hear from leading experts the latest about proposed fish farming operations in Southern California’s offshore waters and current operations in U.S. marine waters while sampling responsibly farmed U.S. seafood, exploring live animal exhibits about aquaculture, and interacting with the new online map featuring marine aquaculture farms in California and the U.S. on Tuesday, September 27, at 10:00 a.m. at the Aquarium of the Pacific. The last week of September is National Aquaculture Week, kicking off National Seafood Month which begins in October. The Aquarium also invites the public to participate by engaging in a live webcast to find out how help to the ocean one bite at a time.

The public is invited to tune in to a free live Aquarium webcast at 10:15 a.m. PST on September 27, 2016, and submit questions via Twitter @AquariumPacific using the hashtag #aopAquaculture or via email to live@lbaop.org (see aquariumofpacific.org/aquariumlive). The Aquarium’s new Perspectives on Aquaculture film will be available online for public viewing the last week of October. The Aquarium’s Marine Aquaculture show projected on its National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Science on a Sphere® technology is available for viewing at the Aquarium daily. In addition, those visiting the Aquarium during National Seafood Month will also be able to see the Aquarium’s new Storied Seafood: Vaquita Conservation photography exhibit about fisherman using non-entangling fishing gear to save the world’s most critically endangered marine mammal, the vaquita porpoise.
