Register Now! West Coast Sea Turtle Symposium, October 19-20, 2022
The inaugural West Coast Sea Turtle Symposium is coming to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California on October 19th and 20th. This meeting will celebrate the comeback of the green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) in Southern California. From near-extinction in the late 1960s, to popping up throughout nearshore waters from Mexico to Santa Barbara in recent years, our resident green sea turtles are making a historic rebound due to successful management and protections in Mexico and the United States.
The first day of the Symposium will feature participatory workshops focused on important sea turtle themes such as community-based participatory science, as well as environmental education & outreach. The second day of the Symposium will include oral presentations and posters focused on current sea turtle research and conservation in our region. The Symposium will culminate with a keynote address and book signing by Dr. Wallace J. Nichols.
