In a press conference held at the Aquarium, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson presented the President’s Environmental Youth Award to six students from Oak Park High School for their efforts in raising awareness about ship strikes on migrating whales in the Santa Barbara Channel.

Hundreds of students visited the Aquarium of the Pacific on April 13 thanks to a donation from SAVOR…Long Beach. The funds made it possible for local schoolchildren to visit during the Grand Prix of Long Beach, when the Aquarium is closed to the general public.
