The Scientific Attitude book cover image

Lee McIntyre will discuss his concept of the scientific attitude, which includes openness to new ideas, but skepticism until those ideas have been tested against the evidence. He will explore how it might be used to communicate better with those who would reject scientific findings on topics like climate change, evolution, and the safety of vaccinations and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

McIntyre is a research fellow at the Center for Philosophy and History of Science at Boston University and a lecturer in ethics at Harvard Extension School. He is the author and will be signing copies of The Scientific Attitude: Defending Science from Denial, Fraud, and Pseudoscience.
