Dr. Holly Jean Buck, assistant professor of Environment and Sustainability at the University of Buffalo College of Arts and Sciences, will discuss the challenges of getting to net zero fossil fuel emissions and the steps we need to take to make the United States’ long-term climate strategy a reality.

Dr. Buck earned a master’s degree in human ecology from Lund University and a Ph.D. in development sociology from Cornell University. She is the author of the books Ending Fossil Fuels: Why Net Zero is Not Enough and After Geoengineering: Climate Tragedy, Repair, and Restoration.
The Aquarium of the Pacific’s First Wednesdays events bring scientists, authors, and other experts into its theater for an illustrated talk paired with book signings or meet and greets and cocktail/social hours. The programs are best suited for high school and college students and adults of all ages.
