In celebration of our 10th Anniversary, we are planning on 750 plus guests to join us as we celebrate the Aquarium’s birthday and a decade of incredible accomplishments. We hope to see some of our original board members and the many companies and individuals that were involved in the building and opening of the Aquarium. In addition, we very much welcome all of our current board members, civic leaders, donors, sponsors, community partners, business leaders, and all of our Aquarium friends.
Guests will be invited to follow the silver carpet to the main entrance of the Aquarium, where they will enter the hosted cocktail party in the Great Hall of the Pacific. They will be greeted with a glass of sparkling champagne, incredible hors d’oeuvres, and will have the opportunity to view all the beautiful exhibits including our new “Top 10 Ocean Issues” exhibit in our Changing Exhibits Gallery. Guests will also enjoy the premiere showing of our new multi-media show “10th Anniversary Tribute” in our Great Hall, which will be introduced by our President & CEO, Jerry Schubel.
Due to the increased number of expected guests, a special dinner tent will be located on the front grass area of the Aquarium. Guests will be awed as they enter the tent that has been transformed into an elegant dining area with amazing lighting effects, and sparkling colors of sapphire blues, purples, and silvers.
The awards presentation will take place followed by a gourmet meal presented by our partners at SMG Catering. The Aquarium anticipates honoring Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for his incredible environmental leadership. Conrad C. Lautenbacher, Jr., Vice Admiral, US Navy (Ret.), Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and the Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will also be honored for his strong understanding of the interactions between our oceans, the environment, and the atmosphere.
Guests will then enjoy a variety of scrumptious desserts, cordials, flavored coffees, live music, and dancing in front of our amazing Blue Cavern Exhibit. Full viewing of all the Aquarium exhibits will be available until 10:30pm. A special gift will be given to each couple as they depart for the evening.
