Aquarium Welcomes a Special Sea Otter and Announces New Role in Helping Rescued Sea Otter Pups

Millie is a four-year-old female that has successfully raised a pup previously, and based on her experience and disposition, she is ideally suited to serve as a surrogate mom.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium and Aquarium of the Pacific announce their partnership on the sea otter surrogacy program to help this threatened species recover off the coast of California.

Performing Arts to Take Center Stage at the Aquarium in 2020

Much more than just a place to see fish, the Aquarium will host performing arts productions in its new state-of-the-art Honda Pacific Visions Theater starting spring 2020.

This spring and summer the Long Beach Opera, Long Beach Symphony, and Long Beach Chorale will perform in the Honda Pacific Visions Theater at the Aquarium.

Aquarium Offers Free Admission to SCUBA Divers During its 19th Annual Divers Day Festival

Divers who show proof of certification with a photo I.D. will receive free admission.

Guests can enjoy special dive-related presentations and demonstrations, and FREE Aquarium admission will be granted to certified divers on March 14, 2020.

Aquarium Festival Celebrates African and African-American Culture During National Black History Month

Guests can experience the sights and sounds of performances by local African-American groups, including Mardi Gras second line dancers, hip hop and break dancers, jazz musicians, interactive drum circle musicians, and West African dancers.

Aquarium Staff Members Nate Jaros and Briana Fodor Present a Lecture Feb. 19 About Coral Restoration in Palau and the Bahamas

Jaros traveled to Palau in 2019 to support SECORE International and Newcastle University’s CORALASSIST Lab. Fodor traveled to the Bahamas in 2019 to participate in SECORE’s restoration work there.

This work included aiding in research to study the effects of warming seas on the coral populations, as well as techniques for scalable restoration methods.

Aquarium Hosts Talk on Protecting the World’s Last Remaining Vaquitas and How to Save Other Endangered Porpoises

David Bader, Aquarium director of education, is also the lead coordinator for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Vaquita SAFE (Saving Animals from Extinction) program.

In this lecture Aquarium of the Pacific Director of Education David Bader will discuss lessons learned from the story of the vaquita and what it can tell us broadly about what it will take to achieve conservation success and help us save other endangered porpoises around the world.
