Learn What it Takes to Become a Marine Biologist, Work Alongside Animal Care Staff at the Aquarium

Do you know a budding marine biologist? The Junior Biologist series of programs at the Aquarium of the Pacific aims to encourage a love of science in seven- to twelve-year-old children. Each two-hour class includes activities related to the animal theme, a guided gallery tour, interaction with animal care staff behind the scenes, and a keepsake journal.

Students interested in learning about a career for a school assignment or pursuing a job in the animal care field can join the Aquarium’s Job Shadow series of classes. Four unique three-hour classes are offered to give teens ages thirteen through seventeen the inside scoop on a career in marine biology. Participants can sign up for the entire series or just one class. Job Shadow classes are led by Aquarium educators and include opportunities to interact with animal care staff members.

August 6 and 21, 2016, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., Penguin and Lorikeet Biologist
September 3 and 18, 2016, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., Mammalogist (mammal biologist)
October 1 and 16, 2016, 9:00a.m.-12:00 p.m., Veterinarian

Cost:

Junior Biologist: $29.00 per participant, $25.00 per Aquarium member. Aquarium admission not included.
Job Shadow: $39.00 per participant, $35.00 for Aquarium members. Aquarium admission is not included.
