Aquarium’s Great Hall to Fill with Music for Long Beach Chorale’s Summer Concert

The Long Beach Chorale presents a musical celebration of liberty and freedom on June 9.

June 5, 2019

WHAT: The Long Beach Chorale presents a musical celebration of liberty and freedom featuring Randall Thompson’s Testament of Freedom. This classic American work sets Thomas Jefferson’s rousing orations to some of Thompson’s most acclaimed music. You will also hear some of the chorale’s favorite spirituals fill the resonant acoustic of the Aquarium as they explore freedom, tragedy, and triumph in our American experience. Assistant Director Matthew Martinez will conduct the performance in the Aquarium’s Great Hall.

The Long Beach Chorale and Chamber Orchestra (LBCCO) is in its fourth decade as a fixture of the Long Beach arts scene. Founded in 1988 by former director Mark Barville, and led since September 2003 by Eliza Rubenstein, the LBCCO has performed many of the great works of Western classical music, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Long Beach Museum of Art, Rancho Los Alamitos, and the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, and with the Long Beach Opera. The group’s musical programming is drawn from around the world and from the middle ages to the present day.
