California is entering the fifth consecutive year of a prolonged drought. The entire southwest is forecasted to become drier, and predictions of reduced water imports from both Northern California and the Colorado River, which now account for 70 percent of all the water used in the region, threaten our way of life. The Aquarium of the Pacific will be creating new watershed exhibits and programs to provide vital information for guests of all ages to help deal with California’s ongoing water crisis thanks to a grant from the San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy (RMC). Members of the media are invited to join Aquarium of the Pacific President and CEO Dr. Jerry Schubel and RMC Board Chair Frank Colonna for a press briefing and unveiling. Together they will announce plans for new Aquarium exhibits and programming that highlight the importance of watershed health and water conservation for sustainable communities and native wildlife habitats. Our local watershed includes our hills, mountains, and land where water drains into the local San Gabriel and Los Angeles rivers.

Members of the media are invited to the unveiling Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Aquarium of the Pacific. RSVP to Marilyn Padilla, Aquarium of the Pacific, 562-951-1684, mpadilla@lbaop.org.
