Aquarium Opens New Exhibit Shorebird Sanctuary
On March 30, 2007 the Aquarium of the Pacific opens its newest exhibit Shorebird Sanctuary. Designed to resemble a tidal wetland, such as Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve in Huntington Beach, California, this exhibit features native vegetation as well as estuarine fishes and shore and migratory birds, including Black-necked Stilts, Black-bellied Plovers, Snowy Plovers, and Ruddy Ducks. Tidal wetlands are habitats for a rich variety of wildlife and serve as vital stopover places for many migratory birds.
