Celebrate the richness and diversity of African and African American cultures at our annual African Heritage Festival.

Join the Aquarium of the Pacific as it hosts its eighth annual African American Festival, celebrating the richness and diversity of African American and African cultures. The weekend will feature live entertainment, arts and crafts, ethnic food, and more. Featured are hip hop and breakdancers, gospel singers, mardi gras second line dancers, live jazz, interactive drum circles, West African dance, cultural storytelling, community award ceremonies, and a host of other activities.

The Aquarium of the Pacific's African American Festival is part of the Long Beach Mardi Gras!

Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Carnaval – whatever you call it, it’s celebrated all over the world and it always means fun! Mardi Gras celebrations return to downtown Long Beach with the Long Beach Mardi Gras at Rainbow Harbor on Saturday, February 20th. This year’s event is bigger and better with FREE entertainment throughout the day, the inaugural Long Beach Mardi Gras parade and a Mardi Gras concert with music, dancing, food, and drinks that will make you feel like you are celebrating on Bourbon Street!
