Aquarium features live feed of ocean news from the Smithsonian

In coordination with the September opening of the Sant Ocean Hall at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC, the Aquarium of the Pacific has opened its own Ocean Today kiosk in the Northern Pacific Gallery. Linked to the same kiosk in the Sant Ocean Hall, the Aquarium’s kiosk provides guests with a national feed of ocean news and video features as well as local stories created by the Aquarium. We are one of the first five pilot interactive stations that also include the Shedd Aquarium, National Aquarium, JL Scott Marine Center, and the Mississippi River Museum. Ocean Today kiosks will be ultimately featured at the entire network of 21 Coastal Ecosystem Learning Centers (CELC) throughout the United States and Mexico.

“We greatly appreciate the significant contribution of the Panasonic Corporation that will help our CELC Network deliver fully coordinated, critical ocean literacy information in a truly entertaining and interactive manner to the more than 25 million people who visit our institutions each year,” said Aquarium CEO Jerry Schubel.
