Fall Exhibits and Events

Scalloped hammerhead shark close-up view

September 4, 2018

This fall at the Aquarium, see new animals, enjoy seasonal festivals and special events, and experience our 20th Anniversary offerings.

The Aquarium is celebrating its twentieth anniversary and is highlighting its original charter animals and other special offerings. The charter animal exhibits are displaying special signs, and Aquarium visitors can look for 20th Anniversary selfie stations and view art exhibits on the second floor of the Great Hall.

Part of the 20th Anniversary offerings, the new Tentacles and Ink exhibit is now home to a group of golden cuttlefish. Also new at the Aquarium is a scalloped hammerhead shark. The three-foot-long juvenile female is currently in a holding area next to the Molina Animal Care Center.

Events this fall include a new five-week series of yoga classes on Tuesday mornings before the Aquarium opens starting September 25, Night Dive on October 12, and free Shark Lagoon Nights on Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Families can celebrate Halloween together at Scarium of the Pacific on October 27 and 28 and the Haunted Atlantis DJ dance party the evening of October 28. Visit our calendar for a full list of events.

While students return to school this season, adults can pursue continuing education through the Aquarium’s Aquatic Academy, which begins on October 10. This course will explore options for how we will feed an additional 2 to 2.5 billion people on Earth by the year 2100 while protecting nature and examine the impact of climate change on agriculture. The Aquarium also offers a year-round Guest Speaker Series. Visit the lectures page to view a full calendar of events.
