Aquarium of the Pacific Participates in It Gets Better

General

March 25, 2011

The Aquarium of the Pacific is participating in the Its Get Better Project, which was created in response to the rash of suicides of gay and lesbian youth because of bullying and harassment. The It Gets Better Project shows young people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach once they pass through the difficulties of the teen years.

The Aquarium produced a short video featuring staff who shared very personal stories of the difficulties of growing up as gay or lesbian and their current successes in their lives. Through this video, the Aquarium and its staff hope to inspire teens to be who they are, pursue their dreams, and to know that it does get better.

The Trevor Project, a benefactor of the It Gets Better Project, is determined to end suicide by providing life-saving and life-affirming resources including a nationwide, 24/7 crisis intervention lifeline, digital community and advocacy/educational programs that create a safe, supportive and positive environment for everyone. Please visit their site at http://www.trevorproject.org for more information.
