March 11, 2009. The Aquarium of the Pacific is pleased to announce Abram Adams Marvel as its February 10th Anniversary Scholar for his efforts in science and conserving the marine environment. In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the Aquarium is honoring students in the community who have shown outstanding efforts in the areas of science, environment, ocean science/marine biology, promoting cultural diversity, and exceptional community service. Ten award recipients are being honored between August 2008 and May 2009.
Adams Marvel, who is nine years old, has an active interest in science and marine biology and has shown outstanding stewardship of the ocean. He participates regularly in district science fairs and has documented underwater creatures through pictures and sketches. He also participates in the Seal Beach Rough Water Swim and in local beach clean ups to help prevent trash from entering the ocean. He has also received honors for the engineering of Lego designs and made his own stop action film of the building of a Bionicle. He also is a talented piano player and music writer.
The Aquarium of the Pacific will continue to recognize local students for their outstanding efforts and talents through May 2009.
