Trashin Fashion Show and Contest highlights eco-friendly designs that celebrate our Urban Ocean
The Aquarium of the Pacific will be hosting its second Trashin Fashion Show and Contest during its annual Urban Ocean Festival on May 5 and 6, 2012. A $500 cash prize will be awarded to the most creative eco-friendly design. The top 10 designs will be modeled and the winner announced on Sunday, May 6. All designs must be made of recycled materials. The goal of the contest is draw awareness to issues of pollution and creating a sustainable relationship with our urban ocean.
The contest is open to anyone. To enter, please submit one to three garment sketches and no more than a 50 word description for each design by midnight on Sunday, March 18th. The description must include the materials to be used and why it is eco-friendly. The designers of the top 10 entries will be chosen by Friday, March 23rd and all applicants will be notified by that date. The chosen designers will be invited to model their fashion(s) at the Urban Ocean Festival on Sunday, May 6th. Some designers may be asked to model more than one design submitted. The $500 grand prize winner will be chosen at the end of the fashion show. No purchase necessary to enter. All entries must be completed in excellence by the day of the fashion show and be made of all recycled materials, except minor structural components like thread and glue. The designers of the top 10 entries must be present at the festival and have models available to model the finished design(s) in order to be eligible for the cash prize. Designer, or a model they arrange, may wear the design.
