Lecture date: March 9, 2017. Captain Patrick Smith returns to share stories of cargo ships, ferry boats, passenger liners, and ex-Civil War military vessels that all met their end in the picturesque but sometimes violent waters around the Palos Verdes Peninsula. This presentation looks at a few of the losses that have taken place on the doorstep of some of the priciest real estate in Southern California and how the bones of these vessels have become lush undersea havens.

Smith is a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captain, commercial and scientific diver, and co-author of Shipwrecks of Southern California.
