Wonders of the Deep

Experts estimate that as much as 95 percent of the volume of the World Ocean and 99 percent of its seafloor remain unexplored.

Dive into the underwater world of ocean exploration, and discover what creatures live beyond the reach of light. This special edition of Senior Member Afternoon will feature a talk from Aquarium President and CEO, Dr. Jerry R. Schubel, who will discuss pressing topics related to ocean exploration and highlight three of the greatest ocean explorers of our time: Sylvia Earle, Walter Munk, and Don Walsh. Members will also hear from Aquarist Dee Ann Auten, who will share fascinating facts about the unusual and unique animals featured in the Aquarium’s newest exhibit, Wonders of the Deep. These animals include deep-sea isopods, flashlight fish, and chambered nautiluses.

Light refreshments will be served. Speakers are subject to change. Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis and strongly recommended as space is limited.
