Eco-Friendly Businesses & Informational Booths
Learn about the impact single use plastics have on the environment and how to avoid using them in our daily lives. Eco-Friendly products will be on display and available for purchase from the following local businesses: Calidog Pomade; Resparked Designs; Simply Straws; and the Aquarium’s Pacific Collections Gift Store. Stop by the Long Beach Recycles’ table to learn about the City’s conservation programs and enter to win one of their Eco-Friendly Gift Baskets (winners will be announced after each Honda Blue Cavern Show).
Ocean Science Center
5-7 min talks will be given by the following local plastics experts in the Aquarium’s Ocean Science Center. The first 3 guests to attend each lightning talk will win a Fat and the Moon eco-friendly product (limit of one product per guest per day).
Erin Rowland, Long Beach Department of Public Works (10:30 a.m.)
Erin is developing the city’s zero-waste plan and spearheading the Bring Your Own Long Beach campaign, which encourages residents to use avoid single use materials.
Claire Mauss, USC Environmental Science & Health Student (1:30 p.m.)
Claire helped to ban plastic straws from USC dining halls and currently serves on the university’s Sustainability Steering Committee.
Anika Ballent, Algalita Marine Research & Education Director (4:00 p.m.)
Anika guides youth through their own discoveries of plastic pollution at Algalita and will be explaining how ocean plastics created a huge swell of plastics smart people.
