On June 13, 2015, the Aquarium of the Pacific hosted its annual Blue Whale Gala entertaining 380 guests and raising more than $378,000. Attendees of the black-tie fundraiser enjoyed an elegant cocktail and hors d’oeuvre reception on the front plaza, gourmet dinner in the Great Hall of the Pacific underneath the majestic blue whale, inspirational conversations, delectable desserts, and after-dinner drinks and dancing under the stars on the outdoor Harbor Terrace and Veranda.
The Aquarium was pleased to honor Vice Admiral Paul G. Gaffney II, U.S. Navy (Ret.) and Margaret S. Leinen, Ph.D. as the recipients of the 2015 Ocean Conservation Award. Both honorees are environmental heroes in their own right and have made significant contributions to ocean conservation and to creating a more sustainable future.
The Blue Whale Gala would not be possible without the generosity of its premier sponsors The John W. Carson Foundation, Esther S.M. Chui Chao, David and Kathy Cohen, and Mario and Therese Molina. Special thanks to the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Board of Directors, Blue Whale Gala Committee, event sponsors, Trustees of the Pacific, members, and special supporters.
Please be sure to save the dates for next year’s Blue Whale Gala on Saturday, June 11, 2016.
