Join Science Friday and Atlas Obscura for an evening at the Aquarium that you won’t soon forget—complete with scientists, researchers, and a SCUBA-diving philosopher.

There’s only one marine animal we want to talk about for eight days—one for each arm! Cephalopod Week is public radio show Science Friday’s annual celebration of these amazing creatures, from the cunning cuttlefish, to the superb squid, to the outstanding octopus. This year, from June 21-28, Atlas Obscura and Science Friday are teaming up to give you a place to celebrate these incredible invertebrates together.

Come on out for an evening of talk, tentacles, and talent, featuring four original short films from Science Friday at the Aquarium of the Pacific. In addition to screening SciFri’s new Cephalopod Week videos, Science Friday senior producer Christopher Intagliata will sit down with cephalopod expert and aquarist Angelina Komatovich from the Aquarium of the Pacific, engineer and squid skin-inspired materials expert Dr. Alon Gorodetsky from the University of California, Irvine, and SCUBA diver and English professor Dr. Melody Jue from the University of California, Santa Barbara. See how art and science collide!
