Join us for Margaritas for Vaquitas, a fundraiser event for vaquita conservation hosted by Premier, the Aquarium’s in-house caterer, which takes places during the Aquarium’s 15th annual Baja Splash Cultural Festival. The event includes: an update on vaquita conservation and efforts from US and Mexican scientists working to save the species; the exclusive premier of the Storied Seafood: Vaquita Conservation photography exhibit; sustainable seafood tasting; margaritas; live mariachi music; and more. The vaquita, Mexico’s endemic porpoise, is on the verge of extinction due to accidental entanglement in gillnets. The new Storied Seafood: Vaquita Conservation exhibit will feature the fishermen of the Upper Gulf of California developing new types of fishing gear that do not endanger vaquita. A portion of the proceeds from food and beverage purchases will support vaquita conservation education at the Aquarium.
