Security Officer - Night Shift
full time, $9.25 hourly, eligible for benefits
Security Officers at the Aquarium of the Pacific are responsible for controlling and maintaining a safe environment. Since Security Officers are also a part of the Guest Service/Operations Division, they are also responsible for greeting and assisting our guests with anything that they might need.
Essential Functions
- Greet guests throughout the Aquarium of the Pacific
- Answer guest questions and offer Aquarium operating information
- Provide crowd management/control when necessary
- Adhere to the highest safety standards
- Complete all departmental paperwork including daily activity log and incident reports
- Respond to and defuse any potentially hostile situations
- Respond to and handle any emergency situations according to Aquarium protocol
- Observe and report any unusual activity on the property
- Other tasks, as assigned
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to interact with guests in all types of situations
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, successfully handling multiple tasks at one time
- Ability to meet scheduling availability requirements, including weekend and holiday periods
Qualifications
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Security experience a very strong plus
- California driver's license in good standing
- Must be able to work night shift: 11:00 p.m - 7:00 a.m.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods or time; up to 4 hours without a break
- Ability to sit for prolong periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to work inside or outside, in varying weather conditions
- Ability to run
