3rd-6th Grade Sleepovers

Using the Aquarium as our classroom, sleepover programs provide a unique learning experience guided by friendly and knowledgeable education staff. Choose one of the four 3rd-6th grade programs.

Crazy Creatures from Dusk till Dawn
From flukes to feathers, scales to scutes, and beaks to bones, diversity abounds beneath the sea. We will explore animal adaptations from tiny boneless wonders to the top of the food chain.
Students Will:
  • Design their very own bird during our adaptation activity.
  • Participate in hands-on activities and play games relating to ocean ecosystems.
  • Touch sharks in Shark Lagoon.
  • Touch animal artifacts and participate in Discovery Chats.
  • Watch a 4-D Movie in our Ocean Theater.

Predator, Prey, and Pajamas!
Discover some extraordinary inhabitants of the deep with their highly developed senses, amazing adaptations and fascinating ways of tracking down their next meal.
Students Will:
  • Learn about a variety of ocean animals and try on critter costumes.

  • Touch sharks in Shark Lagoon.
  • Create their own predator activities
  • Watch a 4-D Movie in our Ocean Theater.

Sensational Sea Life
Explore our thriving southern California waters, as we take a close look at plankton, our tiniest residents, to the largest animals on the planet, the blue whale. Learn about our unique marine food web while doing hands-on activities, using interactive displays, touching live animals, and exploring behind the scenes.
Students Will:
  • View plankton collected from Rainbow Harbor under a microscope.
  • Participate in a Behind-the-Scenes tour.
  • Touch invertebrates at our tidepools and sharks in Shark Lagoon.
  • Investigate our interactive watershed display.
  • Participate in a Whale Chat with animal artifacts.
  • Wake up with a guided tour of one of our galleries.

Sink your teeth into our nocturnal adventure as we explore the mystifying world of sharks and learn what makes them such amazing predators.
Students Will:
  • Make observations in their own scientific journal.
  • Participate in an engaging game in our Ocean Theater.
  • Touch animal artifacts and participate in Discovery Chats.
  • Touch sharks in Shark Lagoon.
  • Make a Sandpaper Shark Habitat Craft.
  • Watch a 4-D Movie in our Ocean Theater.
