Welcome, Homeschool Teachers, Parents, and Students!
The Aquarium of the Pacific believes homeschool children should have the same benefits as classroom-schooled children when it comes to field trip opportunities. We therefore would like to invite homeschool groups to book educational programs with the Aquarium of the Pacific. Our 50-minute interactive, engaging, multi-media classes are adaptable to a range of student ages and are as fun as they are educational.
Special for homeschool groups: Our classes are available for small groups of 10 or more for classes booked for 12:00 or 1:00 time slots. Choose from one of the following classes, or take a look at other classes we offer by clicking on the links to the left.
Splashy
Ages: 5-8 years old (grades K-3)
How do marine animals defend themselves? In this class we will meet Splashy, a creature that lives in a kelp forest habitat. What kinds of adaptations can Splashy have to defend himself against the predator Snaggletooth? This class is great for multi-aged younger groups.
Predator!
Ages: 8-12 years old (grades 3-7)
The oceans are full of unexpected predators. Learn the variety of strategies these animals use to catch their prey. Take a close look at shark jaws to learn more about how animals’ jaws are specially suited for their prey. This class is a great way for multi-aged groups of children to learn more about the predators of the ocean.
A Look Inside: Squid or Fish Dissection
Ages: 11+ years old (grades 6-12)
How does a squid swim? How does a fish breathe underwater? Choose either a fish or squid dissection for your group and learn the internal and external anatomy of one of these fascinating animals.

Homeschool Days
The Aquarium of the Pacific would like to invite Homeschool networks, students, parents, and teachers to the Aquarium for our Annual Homeschool Days on September 23rd and 24th, 2009. Homeschool groups will receive the group rate of $6 per participant. While the Aquarium will be open to the general public, no classroom-based school trips will be booked during these days. This will allow our educators to bring you ocean related activities and biofacts throughout the Aquarium from 9 a.m.-noon, although you are welcome to explore the Aquarium through the afternoon. These engaging learning stations will allow students of all ages to experiment, investigate, and discover marine habitats and concepts. We hope that you will take this opportunity to come and see what the Aquarium of the Pacific has to offer.

Not able to attend Homeschool Days? Consider visiting us another day for a field trip and receive the same group rate. Boeing Teacher Open House
Another opportunity for homeschool groups to learn about the Aquarium of the Pacific is our Teacher Open House on October 14th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. All homeschool teachers are invited to meet the education staff, see classroom and theater program demonstrations, visit the galleries, and enter our raffle drawing. This is a great opportunity to see what the Aquarium of the Pacific has to offer you and your students.
