Shark-riffic
This program investigates one of the most mysterious yet intriguing fish in the sea – the shark! These beautiful animals are a very important part of the ocean’s food web and yet they are sadly in danger of becoming extinct. By learning the intricacies of the sharks lifestyle and behavior guests will have a good understanding and respect for this amazing predator. In class, students become shark scientists, while learning the adaptations sharks use throughout their lives. By identifying how sharks move, their shape, various habitats and teeth students will become shark experts. Students will make a fossil shark-tooth necklace, see and identify the aquariums various sharks and touch a live shark in class!
These classes are developed for youth groups such as scouts and brownie troops. You can choose from three classes that cover different animals and regions of the aquarium. The classes are age specific covering students from the ages of 6 to 11 years old. These programs are structured classes and introduce marine life themes through interactive activities and animal observations. Using games, crafts and tours of exhibits, the three subjects come alive in aquarium classrooms.
Availability: Pre-registration is required and the classes are available Saturdays from 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.
