Aquarium Education Program
Santa Barbara Whale Watch
Join naturalists and experts from the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary for an ocean voyage in search of the elusive and beautiful blue whale. Have an adventure with us to witness these magnificent, but endangered, marine mammals. The Santa Barbara Channel has become one of the most consistent and reliable locations in the world for viewing blue and humpback whales. Since the early 1990s some of the largest pods of these animals have returned each summer to feed in the nutrient-rich waters between the California coast and the four northern Channel Islands. Your trip includes a visit along the spectacular volcanic cliffs of Santa Cruz Island and a stop at one of the largest sea caves in the world, Painted Cave. Continental breakfast and a BBQ lunch (chicken, tri-tip, side dishes, and beverages) are included in the ticket price.
Where to Meet: Meet at 8:00am at the Sea Landing Breakwater in Santa Barbara, CA. Confirmation materials with directions will be sent.
