The Aquarium’s southern sea otter Charlie recently returned from Santa Cruz, California, where he participated in a year-long study of how sea otters perceive sound. Laboratory Research Coordinator Asila Ghoul from the Cognition and Sensory Systems Laboratory, based at the University of California, Santa Cruz’s Long Marine Lab, will discuss the sensory systems of sea otters and how these amphibious animals are adapted for an aquatic lifestyle.
