THE SURPRISE SEA FARE ARTIST IS: MILLER THE SEA LION!

R. Riggs

Miller pondering his artwork.

Miller, our oldest and most beloved sea lion has completed his artwork for the upcoming Sea Fare auction. And boy is it a masterpiece! The Grand Old Man of the Long Beach pinnipeds added his own style to the canvas by using his flipper to create the painting. A finger (flipper?) painting style piece that appears to be a self portrait of himself swimming underwater. Senior Mammalogist Debbie, Volunteer Trainer Linda, and myself were Miller’s art assistants. It was awesome to watch him work the canvas. Be sure to check it out during Sea Fare. I personally think it belongs at the Getty Museum but then again, I am kind of biased towards the Big Guy.  Good job Miller!

Miller is one of the most amazing creatures on this planet of any species. I love the picture of Miller next to his painting, and I love the painting. That is truly a treasure.
Love,
Number one Miller fan

Miller's Masterpiece

I added some lines to a photo of the canvas to highlight the sea lion in Miller's self portrait.
