Hugh's Aquarium Views Video Number 18

During the festivities of the Aquarium of the Pacific’s “Scarium” of the Pacific weekend the staff placed a friendly looking pumpkin in Lorikeet Forest. However the colorful little birds that inhabit the forest decided that the pumpkin needed a more ghoulish makeover. So in a frenzy of beak to pumpkin flesh carving the lorikeets went to work. What they ended up with looked like an avian interpretation of the Impressionist painting “The Scream” by Edvard Munch.

These pumpkins are used as a fun enrichment toy for the birds to enjoy.

Check out the timelapse video of the lorikeets at work giving the pumpkin a makeover.
