Hugh’s Sea Otter Saturdays

How do I describe my Aquarium volunteer shift? Well, I like to refer to it as my Sea Otter Saturday.

Why do I look forward to Saturdays? Being a long time Husbandry Volunteer at the Aquarium of the Pacific, I get to spend time that day with those fuzzy furballs known as southern sea otters. From my early morning preparations of clams, shrimps and squid for their meals, serving those same items to them like a waiter at a fancy restaurant serves his or her customers, to interacting with them in fun sessions and also watching them takes adorable naps after their last meals of the day in all of their glorious fuzziness, my Saturday is filled with wall to wall otters.

Although they can sometimes be more than a handful to work with, each one of them more than makes up for it with their endearing unique personalities and overall cuteness. Check out the video of my otter filled Saturdays and you’ll see why.
