Andy is doing very well as a result of the excellent care it has been given by Dr. Lance and our aviculturists. Its progress is so impressive that it is anticipated that it will be released back to the wild in December. Once out of its 30 day quarantine it will spend a few weeks in the Shorebird Sanctuary under observation for how it behaves in a more open environment with other birds.

You are very welcome. This environment-hugger is pleased to have been able to play a small part in the drama of Andy’s rescue. Our birds that depend on wetlands for habitats for all or part of their life cycles are in trouble mostly because of human impacts on our estuaries. Saving even one is a small payback for what we have done to their habitats.

Thanks Corinne, I’m flattered. Now I have a true connection to the wild!
