Hugh
The Aquarium of the Pacific may have been closed while celebrity racers were speeding past the dolphin fountain outside, but there was a lot going on inside as the facility did its annual spring cleaning.
Due to the layout of the Long Beach Grand Prix race course which runs right by the dolphin fountain in front of the entrance area the Aquarium is closed every year during race weekends. Most people may think that with no guests to entertain and educate on a closed weekend that there wouldn’t be a lot for the staff to do. Well for the past fourteen races I’ve found that at least on my Saturday shifts we stay pretty busy throughout the day. There are still animals to tend to and exhibit maintenance and upgrades to perform.
