Hugh's Aquarium Views Video Number 28

Can you guess the name of the Aquarium of the Pacific’s newest penguin? Here are a couple of hints.

He looks well dressed in his natural tuxedo.

And when he comes aboard the exhibit the rest of the penguins line up for inspection like sailors on a Navy ship.

He is…Admiral Fancy Pants.

Admiral Fancy Pants didn’t come to the aquarium just to look cool in his nautical kind of way. His official duty is to do his part for the Species Survival Plan for Magellanic Penguins by providing genetic variety. In other words it is hoped that he will eventually find a female at the Aquarium of the Pacific to pair up with.

One of the endearing behaviors of the admiral that I noticed is that sometimes he’ll find a human lap to sit on just to feel comfortable. I guess that’s his happy spot. Kind of makes me happy too to have a penguin chilling on my lap.

Take a look at the video of the admiral’s introduction to the June Keyes Penguin Habitat.
