In the last couple of weeks, we’ve recorded 15 sightings of gray whales along with lots of fin whales, bottlenose dolphins, common dolphins, Pacific white-sided, and even a sperm whale!

The sea otters at the Aquarium of the Pacific, as part of their enrichment, are given toys to play with during the day. They are also taught to retrieve these toys so that they can be put away at the end of the day. Well, one day one otter was having too much fun with her toy.

I’ve known Charlie the sea otter since before the official opening of the Aquarium of the Pacific. At 21 years of age, Charlie is the oldest male Southern sea otter around.

Well gray whale season the past couple weeks has been very fun for us, we’ve seen plenty of northbound gray whales (one even playing in the kelp), fin whales, lots of dolphins, not too many cow calf pairs yet though. But don’t worry! They’re probably on their way.
