Otter Life Lessons | Hugh
Observations from Otter Space
Sea Otters are super cool animals. Since starting my Adventures in Otter Space with the experience of raising Furball, aka Gidget, the orphaned pup years ago I’ve learned a lot about sea otters. I’ve also learned a lot from them. Here are some Otter Life Lessons to ponder.

HELLO BIXBY! | Hugh
A Little Seal in a Big Exhibit
It was nervous time for this marine mammal volunteer as I came in for my Saturday shift. Bixby, the daughter of harbor seals Shelby and Troy, was reintroduced to the seal and sea lion exhibit just a few days earlier.

Images of Summer at the Aquarium | Hugh
The Critters of Summer
As we enter the Dog Days Of Summer I’d like to share a few images of some of the critters at the Aquarium of the Pacific. From a pair of Sea Otters enjoying snowballs made of ice to a young Harbor Seal floating weightless just under the surface of the water there are many images that say its summertime for these Critters of Summer.

It’s Time For Big Blue! | Kera
On June 15 we officially ended gray whale season and switched over to blue whale watching. That means longer trips and slightly different trip times. The switch to a longer trip has already started paying off as we’ve had a handful of blue whale sightings already!

The Summer Interns Have Arrived! | Kera
And we’re just waiting on the blues to arrive too!
Three times a year I go through many applications trying to figure out how I’m going to decide which interns to bring on for out Photo ID internship. It’s no easy task and I can tell you there are MANY college students and graduates that truly care about the Earth. As I have to do each time, I’ve narrowed it down to four interns that have just joined the Aquarium team to help protect blue whales. Read on to meet the new interns and find out what their summer will look like!
