I’m pleased to report that we have another new addition to our pinniped family at the Aquarium! A rescued two-year-old male California sea lion joined current residents Miller, Parker, Shelby, Ellie, and newcomer Troy this past Thursday in the Seal and Sea Lion Habitat. I encourage everyone to come on out and see Odin living it up in his new home. Isn’t it nice when a rescue story has a happy ending?

This was quite an eventful week for me at the Aquarium! I had a barbecue to go to, my regular Saturday volunteering, and another event for members! See what was unique and fun about each one.

Making good on my commitment to keep you informed about the rescued Snowy Egret’s progress: an update.
With slower times around the Aquarium of the Pacific, now that summer has ended and school groups have not been organized yet, we have more time to catch up on our underwater friends, and I’m working hard to learn all the fish in one of my new favorite habitats, the Gulf of California exhibit.

You may think that the bird population around the Aquarium consists of sparrows, gulls, and rock pigeons. I have a story to tell about the rescue of an egret by a member of the Aquarium’s ‘dry side’ staff.

Our bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas), the only one on display in the western United States, will be moving to a new home out of state soon. She is outgrowing her current habitat in Shark Lagoon.
