Tiger sharks are a sensitive species that are rare to find in captivity. Check out some of the steps we took at the Aquarium to ensure our tiger shark successfully joined our family of volunteers, staff, birds, mammals, and fish!

As you may have heard, the Aquarium now has a young female tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) on exhibit in Shark Lagoon! In honor of this groundbreaking display, I’ll be writing about the beautiful girl for my next couple blogs. Recently, I had the opportunity to be up close and personal for a Saturday morning feeding.
Earlier this summer the Aquarium added an awesome new feature to our largest display aquarium in the building. We added skylights to the Tropical Pacific Gallery!

Shark Summer with the Horn Shark

In honor of the beginning of Shark Summer here at the Aquarium of the Pacific, I thought I’d tell you about one of my favorite local sharks – the horn shark!
I have been studying and caring for fish as a hobby for over 10 years. I have volunteered at the Aquarium for almost 2 years now, most of it as an aquarist in the Husbandry department. Read my blog to learn how we take care of our scaly friends.
