Get ready to learn a new language, California’s salty MPAese.  On December 6, 2007 Secretary for Resources Mike Chrisman announced that the south coast from Point Conception to the US-Mexican border (an area commonly called the Southern California Bight) would be the next study area in which Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) would be identified as part of the implementation of California’s Marine Life Protection Act Initiative.
