The story of Loligo opalescens---aka Calamari or Market Squid
Every public aquarium must have a live coral exhibit because that is the epitome of aquaria. Nothing is more beautiful or more difficult to maintain than a coral reef aquarium. Thanks to Amy I was able to find out about the upkeep of the live coral exhibit.
The Aquarium got a visit from some cool (literally) birds as I fed some bat rays and collected plankton straight from the ocean! This doesn’t happen much at all, so I was quite excited.
This particular blog deals with one wild dream I had about the Aquarium, some new things that I learned about the surrounding areas of the Aquarium of the Pacific, and a spontaneous outing I had with my co-volunteers.
Helping children find the groups from which they have separated, answering questions, and seeing people enjoy new experiences are things that happen often at the Aquarium of the Pacific! Seeing those children reunited with the adults with whom they came is rewarding, answering those questions—sometimes the answers resolve bets—is rewarding, and seeing people experience new things make my job at the Aquarium worthwhile and loads of fun.
