When I get nostalgic about the critters I worked with during the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Grand Opening year in 1998 and still hang around with today I think of not only seals and otters but also sea turtles and sharks.

Happy Holidays everyone! Last blog, we talked about the first few gray whales of the season, and since then, we have been seeing grays almost daily! According to the ACS/LA Gray Whale Census and Behavior Project, there have been 82 southbound gray whales since season started on December 1st.

A Snowman for the Otter Tradition Continues
It’s a tradition of mine that’s been going on for well over a decade. The task of making the first snowman for the sea otters during the Holiday Treats for the Animals weekend at the Aquarium of the Pacific.This year was especially memorable when Betty the sea otter kissed the snowman.
